Surround sound
If there is one element of a home theater which is considered a required necessity, it is the surround sound. Some factors in a home theater may be considered optional, but not the surround sound. It is sound which transforms the room into a full movie experience, without it, you are just watching TV. Surround sound consists of front speakers (also known as front channels), surround speakers (also known as rear channels), one center speaker (center channel) from which the voice or dialog is produced, and a subwoofer (or LFE). The speakers are connected to the AV surround receiver (sound processor).
